The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the Communications Unit. The position will be based at the Regional Bureau in Cairo, Egypt (RBC). The Internship will be for a period of 6 months starting from November 2016. Extension of internship duration possible.
Description
The selected candidate will be assisting the Communication Unit in the RBC, with the following key duties:
 Organizing; tagging and labelling all content submitted to #ZeroHunger Stories Archive;
 Preparing videos for upload on #ZeroHunger Stories website;
 Conduct web analytics on #ZeroHunger Stories Social Media Accounts;
 Help identify regional and global new media contacts that could help promote #ZeroHunger Stories content;
 Perform administrative tasks related to #ZeroHunger stories, including preparation of weekly social media/web monitoring report to track progress;
 Maintain organized catalogue of all training modules and materials provided to #ZeroHunger Stories fellows;
 Help develop a list of potential partners to collaborate with in order to maximize online story sharing;
 Establish and maintain a mailing list of contacts interested in WFP communication products in RBC region;
 Support Regional Communications Officer with the drafting of short stories and posts for social media using new material collected by Communications staff around the region as well as revamping old stories from the website that can be reused on social media;
 Draft bribed fact sheets to be provided to journalists at events and press conferences on L3 Emergencies in Syria, Iraq and Yemen;
 Draft brief regional pamphlet to be provided to journalists at events and press conferences with an overview of WFP s activities in the RBC region, including key messages on lower profile operations.
Essential Requirements
 Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 12 months with a University degree in Communication, Journalism or related field;
 Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
 Fluency in English and Arabic.

Government Partnerships Division – Rome, Italy
The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position with the WFP Government Partnerships Division. The position will be based at WFP Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Internship will be for an initial period of six months starting from November 2016.
Description
The selected candidate will be assisting the Government Partnerships Division with the following key duties:
 Assist the Donor Relations Officer (DRO) in designing and updating tracking sheets for highprofile operations (previously the Sahel and currently the Syria crises response);
 Liaise with respective DROs in Headquarters, Liaison Offices, Regional Bureaus and Country Offices regarding forecasts and potential contributions for the tracked operations and draft a daily update to be sent by the DRO for senior management;
 Assist the DRO in managing the quarterly issue of the Operational Resourcing Update (ORU) publication for dissemination to donors;
 Consolidate inputs for the Team’s weekly highlights for DRO global network;
 Research background information and assist the DRO in preparing documentation for executive briefs and regional/international meetings;
 Proofread briefs, concept notes, notes for records and other documentation;
 Assist the DRO in the implementation of the 2016 global forecast exercise in coordination with COs for all regions;
 Engage in various exercises on contributions and forecasts such as preparing funding history, resource situation; comparative analysis of operations for all regions;
 Assist the DRO in drafting/editing official correspondence (Letters, Note Verbales) mainly for the Cairo Regional Bureau (RBC) and Panama Regional Bureau (RBP);
 Perform other duties as and when required such as drafting or updating donor fact sheets (UN Peacebuilding Fund, UN Central Emergency Response Fund), help coordinate some assignments for DROs (2012 Donor Highlights for ED’s speech, Middle Income Country funding exercise, categorizing Pillar 2 ‘Other Streams’ exercise, etc.), prepare documentation for project review committees (PRCs) along with small daily tasks.

Asset Creation and Livelihoods Unit – Rome, Italy
The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the Asset Creation and Livelihoods Unit (OSZPR). The position will be based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months. OSZPR’s core area of work include developing corporate guidance for Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) programmes, a key tool for Early Recovery, Safety Nets, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change adaptation and Resilience Building efforts. The unit supports Regional Bureaus, Country Offices and partners in applying the guidance and enhancing capacities to scale-up effective FFA programmes, to ensure high quality programme design, appropriate and evidence-based programme responses, and that lessons learned are adequately mainstreamed. A major realm of work the unit has been leading is the refinement and roll-out of a Three-Pronged Approach (3PA), an innovative programming approach to strengthen the design, planning and implementation of resilience building, productive safety nets, disaster risk reduction, and preparedness programmes. The 3PA combines an Integrated Context Analysis (ICA) at the national level, a Seasonal Livelihood Programming (SLP) at the sub-national level, with a Community- Based Participatory Planning (CBPP) at the local level. 
At the end of the assignment, the Intern should have:
 Supported the development of the SLP online repository;
 Populated the SLP database for the online platform (including at least 60 SLP calendars);
 Assisted in the development, sharing and publishing of FFA/3PA communication materials;
 Developed and regularly updated an excel-based database to keep track of COs/RBs responses;
 Created and systematized folders with editable graphics and original pictures for each chapter of the FFA Programme guidance.
Description
The selected candidate will be assisting the Asset and Livelihoods Units with the following key duties:
 Assist in setting-up an online repository platform for the SLP calendars;
 Populate the SLP database for the online repository platform;
 Assist in the development, sharing and publishing of FFA/3PA communication materials;
 Keep track of responses to the FFA/3PA communication materials shared with Regional Bureaus/Country Offices;
 Systematize the FFA Programme guidance pictures and graphics;
 Perform other duties as required.
Essential Requirements
 Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 12 months with a Master’s Degree in Political Science, international Affairs, Development, Communication or other relevant field;
 Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook);
 Fluent in English and Spanish;
 Good communications skills and ability to develop visual representations using graphic design software (s);

Internship at UNV Headquarters

UNV Internship programme
Eligibility
  • Education: Completed undergraduate degree (Bachelor) and current enrollment in a Masters degree or equivalent. Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible;
  • Field of study: Development-related fields such as economics, international relations, anthropology, sociology, public or business administration, or environmental studies. Other fields of study may be considered depending on the type of assignment;
  • Language skills: Written and spoken proficiency in English and preferably in an additional official UN Language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Chinese);
  • Demonstrated interest in the field of development and the work of international organisations. 
General terms and conditions
  • Interns are accepted throughout the year; for a period of normally two to four months;
  • Immediate family members of UNV staff are not eligible to apply.
  • Upon selection for an internship placement an ‘Internship Agreement’ is forwarded to the confirmed candidate for signature and returned prior to an agreed starting date;
  • The intern is required to keep confidential all information made known during his/her internship and may not publish any reports or papers on the basis of information obtained, except with the written authorization of the organization;
  • An intern undertakes to conduct himself/herself at all times in a manner compatible with his/her responsibilities as an intern.
Financial aspects, expenses and medical benefits
  • The Internship Programme operates on a non-remunerative basis. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or his sponsoring institution or government.
  • UNV accepts no responsibility for the medical insurance for the intern or for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness during the internship period. Applicants are required to provide evidence of adequate medical insurance coverage.
  • UNV is not responsible for any claims by an intern or third party in the case of loss or damage to property or death or personal injury as a result of actions or omissions on the part of the intern during the internship period.
Further career opportunities
  • The purpose of the Internship Programme is to complement an intern's studies, not to lead to further employment with the organization. However, a number of interns, having completed their studies and met the necessary requirements, have gone on to further assignments with UNV, UNDP or elsewhere in the United Nations system.
  • There is no promise of employment upon completion of an internship with UNV. An intern is not entitled to apply for a regular position or hold a consultancy or contractor agreement with the organization either during the internship, or within the following six months.

UNDP Internship Programme

UNDP India offers internships every year to Indian and foreign students. Internships are offered twice every year– in March and in October. To ensure that interns have a valuable experience during their time at UNDP India, we only offer limited internships. All applications are reviewed by an internal committee. 

Objectives of UNDP India Internship Programme are

  • To provide a framework to students by which their educational experience is enhanced through practical work assignments
  • To expose them to an international environment
  • To expose them to the work of the organization with the objective of deepening their knowledge and understanding of UNDP’s goals, principles and activities
  • To provide UNDP India office with the assistance of qualified students specialized in various professional fields

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. level programme in a graduate school/university
  • Able to obtain necessary visas and arrange travel to New Delhi, India
  • Able to cover the cost of travel, accommodation and living expenses in New Delhi

Points to Remember

  • Cost: United Nations’ interns are not paid. All internships are non-remunerative. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions

  • Travel: You will arrange and finance your travel to the duty station (New Delhi).Any official travel out of the duty station is not permissible

The United Network of Young Peace builders (UNOY Peace builders) is looking for two enthusiastic people with an interest in youth and peace building to join our secretariat in The Hague.

  2. Network Officer
UNOY Peace builders are a youth-led network of youth organisations working towards peaceful societies. We embrace values of peace, diversity, inclusion and participation.   • experience/interest in peace building and youth work
